Therapy for Pregnancy and Postpartum
Did you know Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) impact 1 out of 5-7 women and 1 out of 10 new fathers?
Maybe you are…struggling to adjust to the huge life change of pregnancy or postpartum period? Feeling alone in the unique challenges of this time, the mental load, or experiencing mom guilt? Struggling with intrusive thoughts or coping with a traumatic birth experience?
Maybe you got some scary news from the doctor, experienced a loss, or this experience has not been the glowing experience you hoped it would be. Maybe you are struggling with the changes your body has gone through and don’t feel like yourself or feel like everyone is checking in on the baby but no one seems to see how much you are struggling?
Perinatal depression is the most underdiagnosed obstetric complication in America (Earls, 2010).
Matrescense is the physical, emotional, hormonal, and social transition to becoming a mother. Therapy during the perinatal period can equip you with the support and tools to adaptively cope with this huge life change.
I will walk alongside you in your unique journey of reconnecting to yourself and this new aspect of identity. You do not need to be struggling with a clinically diagnosed mood disorder to deserve and access support.
My therapeutic approach is warm and authentic. I value understanding your intersecting identities and supporting you in better understanding and embodying your own strengths and passions. In addition to my clinical experiences, I have obtained clinical trainings to further support my ability to show up for individuals in the perinatal period. I became a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) provider via Postpartum Support International, in addition to taking extensive trainings through The Postpartum Stress Center, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and The Seleni Institute.
I will walk alongside you in your unique journey of reconnecting to yourself in a kind and authentic way.
